AYURVEDA
Welcoming you home to your mind, body and soul
You were created to be the most uniquely perfect version of you.
We are told to if we want to be “healthy”, we need to exercise, eat right, reduce stress and get enough rest. What does that mean? Why does something work for one and not others? Why does what “used to” work for you, no longer does?
Ayurveda teaches us that we are each unique beings and should be treated as such. Looking through the lens of Ayurveda we will create a holistic custom plan by using ancient teachings and adapting them to your lifestyle and schedule.
Get ready to experience a balanced “you”and prepare to thrive.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the longest practice system of medicine dating back to 5000 years ago. “Ayurveda” when translated from Sanskrit literally means the “science of life” (ayus = body, mind and soul; veda = knowledge or wisdom). It is considered the original mind-body medicine. The primary teachings show us how to live in balance with nature so that we may be truly happy and healthy. When in balance, we are in harmony with nature and we are at our best. When we are out of balance, that can lead to poor health and disease of body, mind and spirit.
Ayurveda excels as a preventive medicine, seeking to halt the progression from imbalance to disease by addressing the underlying causes early on. Used alongside Western medicine, Ayurveda can support digestion, the immune system and ease symptoms and state of mind during treatment.
Ayurveda teaches us optimal digestive fire (Agni) is most important to be in a healthful state. Ayurveda recognizes the importance of daily (Dinacarya) and seasonal (Rtucarya) diet and lifestyle practices. Practices can include specific yoga, meditation and/or pranayama (breathing) practices to maintain health and medicines to ease “dis-ease”. This will create harmony with nature; in mind, body and spirit so we can be the best versions of ourselves, at each stage of life; as our needs are different at each stage.
Ayurveda might be considered as the original 80/20 rule for health as it was described in ancient texts. Ayurveda is not about perfection or rigid rules. It allows us to truly enjoy and experience all parts life. Balance only exists with moderation. Living in moderation allows you to have your cake (the sweetness of life when in balance) and literally eat cake once in a while too – without guilt!
Your Ayurvedic consultation will include a review of current and past imbalances, disorders and/or disease, as well as current diet and lifestyle practices. We will work together to create a plan that is specific and easily attainable for you. Recommendations are made with taking into consideration your daily schedule and responsibilities so you have the greatest chance of success of being your best.
